The First Computer Virus
Fun Fact: The first computer virus, known as the "Creeper virus," was created in 1971 by Bob Thomas, a programmer at BBN Technologies. It was designed as an experimental self-replicating program to demonstrate the potential of mobile code. The Creeper virus was not malicious; it simply displayed the message "I'm the creeper: catch me if you can" on infected systems. It spread via the ARPANET, the precursor to the internet, moving from one DEC PDP-10 computer running the TENEX operating system to another.
